Introducing the 2025 Block 8 Shiraz

"When I think of great Australian Shiraz, for consistently generous flavours, McLaren Vale is the first to spring to mind. The best are deeply flavoured, with richness, character and the structure to age beautifully.

For me, there seems to be a natural balance that gives immediate appeal, something Julian and I have always looked for in Block 8 Shiraz. Our winemakers agree, and are in the right region to deliver every time. And boy, have they delivered with the 2005!

The growing season gave us beautifully concentrated fruit, with much of it coming from Blewitt Springs. Just look at the depth of colour, an almost impenetrable purple red. It shows the dark berries, touch of chocolate and rich tannins I look for but, importantly, it has the balance to match.

Over winter, Block 8 is the perfect wine for a rich casserole, but now the barbecue season is on us. Char-grill a good piece of beef and plenty of vegetables. (Try grilled corn, but be sure to leave the leaves on!) Pour a glass of Block 8. No! Do that first.
It’s balanced enough to drink before the food arrives.

I’m confident this is the best Block 8 we have made, and Julian agrees."

- Nick Bullied MW

The latest vintage has arrived, and Nick and Julian believe the 2025 vintage is even better than the highly regarded 2021.

That is no small claim.

Building on the character that made Block 8 so compelling, the 2025 vintage delivers the depth, structure and generosity expected from this distinctive Shiraz, while showcasing the freshness and balance that make the wine so compelling from the first sip.

It is a vintage that invites you to open a bottle now, but promises even more with time in the cellar.

A celebrated Shiraz returns — and according to Nick and Julian, the best is yet to come.

Some wines make an impression. Others leave a benchmark.

The Block 8 Shiraz has earned its place among those wines, with the 2021 vintage receiving outstanding recognition from leading wine critics, including 92 points from Wine Enthusiast and 95 points from Vino Masters.

The 2021 vintage was praised for its depth, structure and freshness — offering layers of plum and dark berry fruit, savoury spice, chocolate and subtle mint, framed by fine, taut tannins and an impressively long finish. Wine Enthusiast's Christina Pickard described it as a Shiraz with the structure to continue evolving for a decade or more. The 2025 vintage takes that foundation forward, offering a fresh expression of what Block 8 can deliver.

And if Nick and Julian are right, this may be the vintage to watch.

Whether you're already familiar with Block 8 or discovering it for the first time, the 2025 release is an opportunity to experience the latest chapter in its story.
