The BackVintage Pinot Gris was sourced from a single vineyard in the Kenton Valley, located between Gumeracha and Lobethal in the Adelaide Hills. The vineyard is 400m in elevation and enjoys cool nights and mild days. The vines are managed to strict VSP (vertical shoot positioning) on a westerly facing slope.
Picked on February 20th at 11.9 baume, the grapes were separated into two parcels, one clarified completely and cool fermented but not too cold to avoid excessive ester production while the other was fermented on full solids to build texture, richness and give a subtle flintiness.
The parcels were left on lees for 5 months to build texture, complexity and palate depth prior to blending and bottling. This wine shows the richly flavoured ‘gris’ style beautifully - generously full-bodied, with subtle complexity. The flavours make it a delicious accompaniment to chicken dishes or flavoursome seafood and salads. Enjoy it while it’s young and fresh, until the end of 2028.
A crisp, lively Pinot Grigio offering vibrant fruit and refreshing acidity.
Colour: Pale bronze.
Nose: Fragrant and full, showing nashi pear and white peach with a hint of bread-dough complexity.
Palate: Full-flavoured, with intense pear and stone-fruit characters. Finishes with excellent length, a light texture and gentle acidity.
Food Pairing: This wine showcases the richly flavoured 'Gris' style beautifully – generously full-bodied, with subtle complexity. Its flavours make it a delicious accompaniment to chicken dishes or flavoursome seafood and salads. Enjoy while young and fresh, through to the end of 2028.
