This Shiraz is a vibrant expression of the region, showcasing the richness and personality of its classic varietal, it reveals a fragrant, layered profile with both depth and approachability.
Carefully crafted with gentle handling partial whole-bunch fermentation, open-top fermenters, and 16 months in seasoned French oak hogsheads this Shiraz delivers structure, texture, and complexity, making it a wine to enjoy now or cellar for further development.
The Barossa 2023 vintage was the latest picking vintage this millennia. Late Autumn rain in May 2022 followed by plentiful rains during winter filled the soil profile. Above average rainfall continued in Spring with over 50 days of rain leading to more than double the long term average. Combined with moderate temperatures this weathe delayed veraison until February. Summer was dry and moderate with few heat spikes meaning the grapes ripened slowly and were picked in the cooler months of March and April.

"Upfront and immediately appealing, showing blackberry, violet, star anise, and stylish oak aromas. The palate is equally satisfying with plump mouthfeel and silky texture, splendidly supported by silky tannins. Flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2036."

"Deep crimson. Musky black cherry, aniseed aromas with underlying savoury notes. Generously concentrated with supple dark berry fruits, some mocha notes and plentiful chewy firm tannins. Juicy and tight at the finish. Drink now–2036"

"From the Arila Gardens vineyards on Moppa Road in the Barossa, a small percentage of whole bunches were included in the ferment, the remainder whole berries. Maturation was for sixteen months in older French oak hogsheads. The colour here is purple/maroon. We have aromas of chocolate, coffee beans, mocha, a hint of bitter almond adding complexity, black fruits, sage, warm earth, blackcurrants and soy. This is still youthful and really would benefit from some time in the cellar before opening. Fine balance, sleek tannins and very good length to finish. If you can leave it for two to three years, it will reward, and then it will continue to be enjoyable for at least the following five to eight years."
