A Ferguson Valley Tempranillo bursting with dark cherry charm and juicy, food-loving appeal.
Tempranillo may be Spain’s signature red, but it finds a new rhythm in WA’s Ferguson Valley. The 2022 vintage is all about vibrancy; a modern, fruit-driven expression with just enough savoury spice to keep you coming back for more.
Fermented in open fermenters to enhance aromatics, this Tempranillo underwent a short, five-day fermentation before being pressed to tank for malolactic fermentation. From there, it spent time in seasoned oak to build body without overshadowing the fruit. The result? A wine with structure, succulence, and serious crowd-pleasing energy.
Whether it’s pizza night, slow-cooked ragu, or a classic lasagne, this wine slots in perfectly. It’s bold without being heavy, plush without being sweet, and a delicious match for tomato-based meals and midweek catch-ups alike.
A plush, fruit-driven red with savoury undertones and youthful vibrancy.
Colour: Vibrant purple.
Nose: A fragrant punch of black cherry, raspberry, and savoury spice.
Palate: Juicy and expressive, with flavours of dark cherries, strawberries, and red plums filling out the mid-palate. Fine tannins and balanced acidity round out the finish.
Food Pairing: Made for tomato-based dishes — try it with pizza, lasagne, bolognese, or even grilled vegetables with romesco. Enjoy now through 2028.
93 Points | Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
“Beautifully fruited and inviting, the fragrant bouquet shows dark plum, sweet raspberry, rich floral, star anise and roasted nut aromas, followed by a succulent palate offering excellent weight and plump mouthfeel. Tannins are fine and grainy, making it sturdy and robust with a lengthy juicy finish.”
92 Points | Ken Gargett, Winepilot
“This ever-popular Spanish variety might be a long way from home, here we have an example from the Ferguson Valley in the West, but it is making the most of it. Delicious wine in a deep purple maroon. The aromas weave through chocolate notes, warm earth, cherries, herbs, leather and roasted meats. There is serious concentration and bright acidity here with quite saturated flavours. Very good length and a touch of exuberance throughout.”
