Watervale,is a sub-region of the Clare Valley near Leasingham is most famous for its high-quality, dry Riesling wines. BackVintage has been sourcing quality grapes from this highly regarded region for more than 15 years.
The area is known for its cool climate, which results in crisp and tangy Rieslings with delicate aromas and flavours of lime, citrus, and minerality. The Watervale area also has a rich history, heritage buildings, and a variety of small wineries.
The BackVintage 2025 Watervale Riesling is full-flavoured, with beautiful citrus characters. A little richer in the mouth than some Rieslings, yet finishes freshly with crisp acidity and beautiful length.
It is not often that Riesling combines such intensity with surprising delicacy. It finishes in classic Riesling style - light and lively. The wine is delicious now and will develop complex, toasty flavours past 2030. Try it with salads or seafood and, as it ages, with fuller flavoured dishes.
