A juicy, vibrant Gamay from Ferguson Valley, with bright fruit, gentle spice, and sheer drinkability.
Gamay is best known for its lively, fruit-forward style, and in the cool reaches of Ferguson Valley this 2023 release sings with brightness and finesse. This winery has embraced the variety’s playful character while adding a layer of polish through careful winemaking and gentle oak maturation.
Handpicked on a cool autumn morning, the fruit underwent a short, seven-day ferment to retain its freshness, followed by a soft press and maturation in seasoned oak for six months. The result is a beautifully balanced wine with cherry and raspberry lift, floral perfume, and a hint of spice that adds warmth without weight.
Whether lightly chilled or served at room temperature, this Gamay is as versatile as it is charming. It’s the kind of wine you want to bring to dinner - especially if there’s something sweet and savoury on the table, like a chicken tagine with apricots and olives.
A silky, spice-kissed red with plenty of juicy charm.
Colour: Brilliant garnet red.
Nose: Bright and expressive with cherry, raspberry, and a soft floral lift of sweet violets.
Palate: Fresh and elegant, bursting with summer berries and red cherries.
Food Pairing: Perfect with Moroccan dishes like chicken tagine, or try it with charcuterie, pâté, or a roast vegetable tart. Serve lightly chilled in warmer weather. Drink now through 2027.

“Youthfully charming and elegantly perfumed with sweet plum, violet, olive and subtle spice aromas, it's juicy and beautifully rounded in the mouth delivering soothing texture and mellow tannins, making it delightfully drinkable.”

“Gamay has long been seen as the poor sibling of Pinot Noir and treated with scant respect. The new wave of wines from Beaujolais will help rectify this, as will impressive local efforts like this. The grapes, from the Ferguson Valley in Western Australia, were destemmed into fermenters for a speedy ferment, followed by a short stint maturing in older oak. A deep red/crimson colour. Quite plush and generous, there are red fruits here, notably cherries. Florals and spices also contribute to an alluring nose. There is then focus and bright acidity with a lingering finish supported by very soft tannins. A juicy, easy drinking style with a soft finish, but this is more than just a simple slurp. It deserves attention. Enjoy over the next two to three years.”
