Tempranillo may be Spain’s signature red, but it finds a new rhythm in WA’s Ferguson Valley. The 2023 vintage is all about vibrancy; a modern, fruit-driven expression with just enough savoury spice to keep you coming back for more.
Fermented in open fermenters to enhance aromatics, this Tempranillo underwent a short, five-day fermentation before being pressed to tank for malolactic fermentation. From there, it spent time in seasoned oak to build body without overshadowing the fruit. The result? A wine with structure, succulence, and serious crowd-pleasing energy.
Whether it’s pizza night, slow-cooked ragu, or a classic lasagne, this wine slots in perfectly. It’s bold without being heavy, plush without being sweet, and a delicious match for tomato-based meals and midweek catch-ups alike.
A plush, fruit-driven red with savoury undertones and youthful vibrancy.
Colour: Vibrant purple.
Nose: Lifted aromas of dark cherries and plums, with a hint of baking spices.
Palate: Juicy flavours of ripe dark cherries, strawberries and red plums dominate the palate
Food Pairing: Tempranillo is a great match for foods with a tomato based sauce, think lasagne, pizza, and spaghetti bolognese.

"Richly fruited and fragrant, the bouquet shows dark berry, tar, liquorice, clove, and nutmeg characters, leading to a silky palate that's succulent and plump. Tannins are fine and beautifully integrated, making it sturdy yet supple with a lengthy, delectable finish. At its best: now to 2030."

"A vibrant blood red hue, this Ferguson Valley Tempranillo has the most alluring nose. We see notes of dried herbs, raspberries, charcuterie, dark cherries, plums and beefstock. A vibrant wine full of energy and life, it persists through to fine if slightly firm tannins. Well focused with very good length, enjoy this over the next decade."

"Bright, pure and varietally true, this Tempranillo opens with red cherry, wild strawberry and hints of pomegranate. Savoury spice, dried herbs and subtle earth weave through a beautifully balanced, medium-bodied palate. Fine, chalky tannins and fresh acidity give drive and definition, finishing long, vibrant and effortlessly drinkable. A poised and polished expression of modern Australian Tempranillo."
